About Heather Johnson

~Biography~
Heather Johnson is from Salt Lake City, Utah and comes from a family of 8 children. She married Dustin (deceased) in 1995 and they had one son, Trevor. She married Kevin Johnson in 2001 and they live in Central North Carolina with their four children, Trevor (10), Ole (5), Emily (3) and Sophie (1). Johnson is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

~Politics~
Heather has been active in politics all her life. Her mother was very active in local politics and she recalls regularly attending Community Council meetings with her siblings from an early age. Heather’s mother also ran for Utah House of Representatives. She lost the seat and remained active as a lobbyist and on the Salt Lake County Planning and Zoning Commission.

Heather served as the Communications Chair of the Chatham County GOP until late 2005. She is currently a member of the Executive Committee. Heather worked with NC Republican Senator Fred Smith in support of a NC Marriage Amendment and also for the Taxpayer Protection Act.

During the mid-term elections in 2006, Heather served the Republican Governor’s Association as a deployment team volunteer. She was dispatched to Maine to volunteer on the gubernatorial campaign of Chandler Woodcock.

In 2005 Heather founded a Conservative group in her area called The Chatham Conservative Voice. She currently serves as Communications Chair of the group and is working hard to promote Conservatism in Chatham County, North Carolina.

During the 2008 General Election, Heather served as the Chatham County McCain-Palin Chair and as the North Carolina State Moms for McCain Chair. She had the honor of being asked to greet Governor Palin on the tarmac during her first visit to the state.

~Autism~
Heather became active in the Autistic Community in 2002 when her son, Trevor, was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, a high-functioning form of Autism. Heather battles tirelessly on behalf of her son and serves on the Steering Committee of her local ARC. She also volunteers as an advocate for families with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) children.

~Business~
Heather owns a small bookkeeping business, Chatham Bookkeeping Services.
